The Chicago Bulls lost Game 4 Sunday afternoon 89-98 at the Verizon Center to the surging Washington Wizards. The Bulls Taj Gibson was the only Bull player that came to play ,with a career playoff high of 32 points and single handily keeping the Bulls alive in this heart breaking loss.
But it wasn’t enough.
The Wizards dismantled the Bulls getting 30 points from Forward Trevor Ariza, who like Mike Dunleavy in Game 3 put on his own shooting display.
Wizards all-star John Wall had a great game, putting up 10 points and a game high 15 assists. The Wizards starters out scored the Bulls starters 88-47, something that will make the Bulls players sick when they review the stat sheet on the plane ride home.
The Bulls missed a golden opportunity to even the series when Wizards big man NeNe Hilaro was suspended for Sundays game.
Joakim Noah was supposed to shine in this game–yeah he had 15 points and 10 rebounds but they were as meaningless as a Donald Sterling apology. The Bulls came out flat, falling behind 14-0 to start the game. They simply weren’t ready to play and looked like a team ready for summer vacation.
The Bulls will play Game 5 Tuesday night back home at the United Center, and they will be playing for their playoff lives. Hopefully they play with pride, and a sense of urgency, something that was missing Sunday .
My key player for Game 5 is not a player at all–its Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau. It’s up to him to find away to extend this series and put the Bulls players in the best position to get the job done Tuesday night.
Suddenly I hear Drake singing into the air ” just hold on were going home…”
