Who would of thought Jimmy Butler would enter the MVP conversation? Forget the most improved award, we are talking the best in the game. Even though this is a small sample of the new and improved Butler, I think its safe to say the hard-nosed guard is the best at his position. The true test and measuring stick for me is a January 19th date against the Cleveland cavaliers and LeBron James. Jimmy missed the first meeting between these clubs on Halloween due to a sprained thumb.
The Bulls organization and coaching staff have to continue to let Jimmy Buckets evolve into the player he will ultimately become. Rather that’s more shot attempts or designing plays specifically for the now clutch guard in the reining moments of a critical fourth quarter possession. This is not about the comeback season of Derrick Rose anymore, what is happening this year is bigger than anyone ever imagined.
Jimmy Butler has already won the most improved player accolade; but he also has a legit chance to win the most valuable player award, defensive player of the year, and you might as well throw in a chance to win All-star MVP is truly amazing.
Bulls commentator and former Chicago player Stacy King keeps reminding viewers that Jimmy Butler isn’t a household name yet. But when the hardest working player in the NBA finally does become one I’m pretty sure kids will start saying I wanna be, I wanna be like Jimmy!
